Today’s design tips come from this tiled kitchen, a textural play on the classic white space.
The Fifth Element: Don’t forget your ceilings. Yes, even in a kitchen this can be an extra surface on which to provide a design moment. Here architectural molding adds to the traditional look and just one large-scale lantern punctuates the room.
Custom Tile Hood: Limit stainless steel for a classic look. Extend the use of tile (on flooring and backsplash) as a decorative element with a custom tiled hood. Using a larger format tile in a slightly darker color and matte finish adds interest and subtle contrast to this unique feature.
Barstool Island: A table and chairs at bar height provide comfortable seating with functional leg room (no squished knees here) and can be used as extra counter space – making it a great alternative to the traditional island.
Have a great week!
